Design basics:

No more than 4 colors:

Our 4-color palette offers limitless creative possibilities, allowing you to achieve vibrant designs.

1 pixel, 1 knitted loop:

Each pixel in our design template represents a meticulously knitted loop, giving a realistic preview of your design.

Contrasting trim areas:

Add a vibrant touch to your design by using the rib structure of the trim areas to create striking color contrasts and accentuate key details.

Opt for darker base colors:

Jacquard knitting forms a tight structure, making darker base colors more appealing and less likely to show distortion or light colors at seams.

Best practices:

Avoid using images with too many colors to achieve best results, as the design may not appear as expected. Our knitwear supports a maximum of 4 colors per design.

Avoid pairing colors with low contrast to ensure the final result is clearly visible. Colors may look different on screen than on the actual garment.

Use the Pen tool or Knitwise pixel brush when designing on our Photoshop templates. This way, hard edges without smoothness are created and clear color separation is achieved. Otherwise, it generates smooth edges and causes an anti-aliasing effect which create "new" colors.

Mix swatches for additional colors by using dithering techniques on Photoshop templates. Dithering uses adjacent pixels to give the appearance of a third color and to create a gradient effect. Download the Knitwise Brushes to start combining color pixels!

Avoid stray pixels. Sometimes, a lone pixel is left somewhere on the canvas by mistake. This will be translated into yarn and knit the same as any other pixel!
